A Uganda Student Pass is a document issued by the Ugandan government to foreign students above the age of 4 years enrolled in a learning institution in Uganda. The Student Pass serves as a legal permit that allows international students to reside and study in Uganda for a specified period, this can be for 3 months, 6 months & 12 months.

The Uganda Student Pass is issued under the Immigration Act, 2009, and the Immigration Regulations, 2010. It is a mandatory requirement for all foreign students who wish to pursue their studies in Uganda, regardless of the level or duration of their studies.

The Student Pass is issued by the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control (DCIC), which is the government agency responsible for managing immigration and citizenship matters in Uganda.

Previously students in various institutions have been paying USD 100 and above for application as the standard fee for the period that has been granted. Students from the Republic of South Sudan are now exempted from paying the Student Pass Fees with reference to the letter by the Ministry of Internal Affairs PERS 77/147/01 issued on 4th September 2023 and Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued on 5th, September 2023, no.
