The Governor of Lakes State, Rin Tueny officiated the swearing-in ceremony of state’s executives on Thursday.
Some of the officers who were sworn in include the Minister of Animal Resources, Fisheries and Tourism, Abraham Ater, Minister of Roads and Bridges, Peter Machiek, a Member of HIV/AIDs Commission, James Marial, and Cueibet County Commissioner, Marial Makhot.
Speaking during the event, Tueny lauded the out-going Minister of Roads and Bridges, Awuol Malual and his counter-part, Cueibet County Commissioner, Akol Mathiang, for serving the people of Lakes State well.
He urged the newly sworn-in officials to implement what has been stipulated in the Revitalized Peace Agreement to ensure the maintenance of peace in the state and the government can improve key sectors like agriculture, education and security.
Abraham Ater and Marial Makhot, who spoke on behalf of the newly appointed officials, said they are committed to fully serving the people of Lakes State irrespective of their political affiliation.
Meanwhile, Alek Malaak, Acting Chairperson and Secretary General of the SPLM-IO in the state encouraged the newly inducted officials to cleave to the slogan “Lakes State First” and pick the policies of the state’s government.
He added that issues related to the government should often be addressed administratively rather than taken to social media.
