BROOKSVILLE, Fla. (WFLA) — Two dogs died, and several residents were displaced Saturday night after a mobile home in Brooksville went up in flames.
The fire broke out around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 on Jayson Drive, according to Hernando County Fire Rescue.
As firefighters arrived in the area, they said heavy smoke and flames could be seen coming from the double wide mobile home.
Crews launched an “aggressive offensive strategy” and were quickly able to extinguish the fire, officials reported.
All five of the residents were able to safely evacuate. However, firefighters said their pets didn’t make it out in time.
The Red Cross was assisting the residents Saturday night as they were unable to return inside their home.
As of Saturday, Nov. 9, the State Fire Marshalls Office was still working to determine the cause of the fire.
