The South Supreme Airline boss, Ayii Duang Ayii, is expected to appear in Malakia High Court on Thursday, September 14, 2023.
“He will be brought from Juba Central Prison to Malakia Court to inform the family victims whether he has received a portion of the money to pay,” Makuei Puok, the representative of families told The City Review.
Ayii was arrested and imprisoned last month for failing to pay plane crash victims as ordered by the court.
The South Supreme Airline was ordered by the court to pay $170,000 to each of the families of the people who died in the jet crash in 2021 at Pieri Airstrip in Uror County.
In addition, Supreme Airline was ordered to pay 10 per cent (roughly SSP 1 million) to the lawyer who represented the victims, but the airline did not follow through on any of the orders.
South Supreme Airlines’ aircraft number HK-4274 crashed at Pieri Airstrip in Uror County, in March 2021, killing at least eight passengers and two flight crew members.
However, the charges of the pilot and the other crew members are still ongoing at the Supreme Court.
