The family of Biar Marol denied social media claims that their kin was whisked to unknown location by the National Security officers.
Marol, the executive director of Juba-based empowerment organization, Junubin Chronicles, is said to have gone missing last week on Wednesday and has not been seen by his family or workmates since.
His absence has sparked widespread speculation on social media, with some saying that the 26-year-old Marol was kidnapped by the country’s security forces.
Deng Atem, Marol’s cousin, cautioned that people should avoid guesswork on the circumstances of his disappearance because there is still no suspect framed in the incident.
Atem stated that the family has not given up the search for their relative and, has informed authorities, who still have no leads or suspects in the current scenario.
“We asked all over the neighborhood where the car was found; we got one eyewitness who claimed to have seen him but did not give us any helpful information.”
“We have gone to security agencies, to the police, to telecommunication companies, and we are not just waiting around for the police; we are actively looking for him,” Mr. Atem told to The City Review.
He is optimistic that the family will discover missing Marol, despite the limited information they have on the case.
“Someone being drugged out of the vehicle means that people must have seen them, and they would by now have given us information. Plus, if the alleged people abducted him, then they would have contacted us and his family within 72 hours to demand money,” he added.
Marol’s Junubin Chronicles co-founder, identified as Bill, told The City Review that Marol had not not expressed any signs of anxiety that his life was in danger, and that it was not a work-related issue. He departed that morning and never returned—something unusual.
“Apart from working with him, I live with him, and that morning everything was normal; he took some keys from me that he was to return, but he left wearing sweatpants.”
“He left his watch and open shoes, which was unlike him, so where he was heading, he seemed to be in a rush,” he narrated.
Bill added that morning Biar and a colleague were supposed to attend a meeting, but he failed to do so.
“I tried calling Marol’s number but got no response, so I assumed that he was busy, but when it was 7 pm, he began to worry and called his family members, which led to a search party that was able to locate his car.”
Junubin Chronicles provides campaign awareness of the needs of the community and strategically does that through entertainment.
