South Sudanese President, Salva Kiir and his delegation returned to Juba this Saturday after a three-day visit to Moscow, Russia.
During the visit, the two countries agreed to expand their relations in areas of trade, energy, and other sectors.
Speaking to the State owned Broadcaster, SSBC at Juba International Airport after landing, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. James Pitia Morgan, stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin has promised to work with South Sudan to develop the mining sector.
“The visit has been successful and the Russian President, Vladimir Putin has promised to work with South Sudan to develop the mining sector,” Dr. Morgan explained.
According to him, the visit is expected to strengthen the working relationship between the two countries and open up new opportunities for South Sudan’s economic development.
He said, “This visit is expected to strengthen the relationship between the two countries and open up new opportunities for the economic development of our country.”
This is the second time the South Sudanese president has visited Russia.
President Kiir attended the first Russia-Africa summit in 2019 marking his first visit to Russia.
