TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Several reports, including from the Wall Street Journal, have said Governor Ron DeSantis could become President-elect Trump’s new defense secretary nominee. The news comes amid a growing number of allegations against Trump’s original nominee Pete Hegseth.

Questions, concerns, and allegations are mounting about problems in the former Fox News host’s personal life, according to the WSJ.

Issues also linger around Hegseth’s previous comments that women shouldn’t serve in combat.

In light of the controversy, Trump is reportedly considering DeSantis as his next pick in line to lead the Pentagon. The two share similar views when it comes to ‘woke’ policies in the military.

Trump and DeSantis both attended a funeral for deputies in Palm Beach County earlier in the week. Political analysts point out, the president-elect could still pick another person to fill the position.

If DeSantis joins Trump’s cabinet, the move will have impacts throughout Florida. The governor is in the process of selecting a replacement for Senator Marco Rubio, the nominee for secretary of state.
