Ugandan musician Evelyn Lagu died on Monday morning after a long battle with kidney and heart complications, local media confirmed.
Evelyn has been battling the kidney problem for three years which left her moving in and out of hospitals and prompting a kidney transplant.
Family source reportedly said the budding singer died in the earlier hours of Monday at her home – one month before her charity concert in the capital Kampala.
Following her death, Ugandan celebrities and fans took to social media to mourn her – with Singer Eddy Kenzo expressing shock at the news.
Fellow musician Spicy Diana took to Instagram and posted; “My heart is melting now” and said Evelyns was the strongest human being “I have ever seen.”
“My heart is melting now. Tubadde twesubiza binji nyoo . But you have fought such a good battle. The strongest human I have ever seen, with so much hope. Kept the faith. RIP Mukwano.”
