Verizon donates $75,000 to local organizations in Florida

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Verizon donates $225,000 to local organizations in Florida and Georgia for long-term recovery efforts after Hurricane Helene.

Verizon has donated to:

  • Feeding Tampa Bay- $25,000
  • Volunteer Florida- $50,000
  • Golden Harvest Food Bank, August, Ga.- $25,000
  • Greater Valdosta United Way- $25,000
  • United Way of Southeast Georgia- $25,000
  • United Way of South Central Georgia- $25,000

“Volunteer Florida is deeply grateful to Verizon for their generous support and donations to the Florida Disaster Fund in response to Hurricane Helene. With the collaboration of our valued business partners, their commitment will help provide critical services and resources to those affected, ensuring that communities have the support they need to rebuild and recover,” CEO of Volunteer Florida, Josie Tamayo said.

The funding is intended to support local relief efforts for the communities that need to rebuild.

“Feeding Tampa Bay will continue to assess and respond to the needs of those who have lost so much. We cannot do this important work alone,” President and CEO of Feeding Tampa Bay, Thomas Mantz said.

Verizon has waived postpaid domestic calls, texts, and data usage for Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina until Oct. 5.
