WATCH: Man arrested after allegedly breaking into vehicle at Brandon Mall

BRANDON, Fla. (WFLA) — A man was arrested on Saturday after reports of someone possibly breaking into a vehicle at the Brandon Town Center Mall, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office announced.

On Dec. 7, deputies responded to a call at 5:50 p.m. regarding a possible vehicle burglary outside JC Penney at the Brandon Mall.

With the help of the HCSO Aviation Section, deputies were able to locate Mercella Gibbs, 18, searching through a blue Volkswagon, according to HCSO.

The video shows Gibbs running from the car into a small wooded area.

Deputies on the ground located Gibbs and took him into custody without incident.

Gibbs was arrested for burglary of an unoccupied conveyance while wearing a mask x2 and resisting an officer without violence.
